1. Introduction

Notch is a local-first application designed with absolute privacy in mind. Our core philosophy is that your personal data, especially sensitive notifications and One-Time Passwords (OTPs), should remain entirely in your control. We do not collect, store, transmit, or monetize your personal data.

2. Zero Data Collection & Cloud Transmission

Notch operates exclusively on your local area network (LAN/WLAN) via WebSockets. No application data, usage metrics, crash logs, or notifications ever leave your local home network. We do not use third-party analytics trackers, and we do not host any cloud servers for data relay.

3. Data Storage & In-Memory Processing

• Ephemeral Data: Highly sensitive information, including the content of notifications and OTPs, is processed strictly in-memory (RAM) by both the Android app and the browser extension. This data is discarded instantly after it is relayed and is never written to disk.
• Local Storage: Your browser's local storage and the Android app's local preferences are used solely to store non-sensitive configuration data, such as device pairing tokens, display names, and local IP connection details. This data is necessary for the devices to recognize each other on your network.

4. Permissions (Android)

The Android application requires the "Notification Listener" permission to intercept OTPs. This permission is used exclusively in real-time to parse incoming notifications for verification codes, which are then relayed to your paired browser extension over the local WebSocket connection. Notification content is never saved.

5. Third-Party Services

Because Notch does not collect data, it does not share data with any third-party services. The application does not include any third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
